Shapiro, Lifschitz & Schram Welcomes Christopher Mahoney to the Firm

Veteran litigator joins firm’s growing trial practice group

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 1, 2014 –Shapiro, Lifschitz & Schram PC welcomes veteran trial lawyer Christopher W. Mahoney to the firm as Vice President and a member of the firm’s expanding Trial Practice Group. With broad litigation experience spanning more than 25 years, Mahoney’s practice is focused on an assortment of complex civil litigation, including commercial disputes, construction litigation, government contracts, and business torts, as well as real estate, eminent domain, environmental, product liability, employment and professional liability matters.

“Chris is a creative and committed client advocate who thrives on both the competitive nature of litigation and effective representation specifically tailored to the individual needs of each client,” said Judah Lifschitz, principal and co-president of the firm. “He knows that high stakes litigation is often unavoidable and total focus and dedication are crucial to advance or protect a client’s interests, and that’s what drives him in his practice."

Mahoney has served as both trial and appellate counsel for individuals, small businesses, multinational corporations, municipalities and administrative agencies, and has defended or brought suit on behalf of these clients before juries and judges in federal and state courts across the country, as well as before mediators and arbitrators. He has represented a multitude of industry sectors, including financial institutions, universities, medical equipment suppliers, chemical companies, information technology providers, foreign companies and not-for-profit entities.

In addition to his litigation practice, Mahoney is active in civic and charitable matters. He is a long-time volunteer attorney for the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless and has handled litigation matters for the Legal Counsel for the Elderly and the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights. He serves as treasurer of the Union College Alumni Club of D.C., and is a member of the American Friends of the London School of Economics and the Irish Network of D.C.

A Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated attorney, Mahoney has been recognized in Washingtonian magazine as one of D.C.’s “top lawyers” and has been named a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was an editor of The Tax Lawyer
