Experience.

Susan A. Hubert is the firm's extremely talented and experienced Director of Administration. An integral part of the team, Susan has been active in the Washington, DC legal community since 1977 when she began as a legal secretary for the Securities and Exchange Commission. In 1981, Susan began her career in law firm administration. Highly experienced in both administration and information technology, Susan has been with Shapiro, Lifschitz & Schram for 14 years. As Director of Administration, Susan oversees:

  • administration and implementation of human resources functions, including the administration of all employee benefits such as the flexible spending account program; health, life, long term care and disability insurance plans; wellness benefit program; and professional fringe benefits
  • attorney, paralegal and support staff recruitment, orientation and training
  • implementation and oversight of firm policies and procedures
  • administration of 401(k) Savings/Profit Sharing Plan and Defined Benefit Retirement Plan
  • administration of marketing and firm social events
  • information technology support services
  • facilities/building management
  • administration of billing and collection functions

Passion.

Susan has a passion for ensuring that her "clients" (the firm's employees) are as productive and efficient as possible because this insures the firm's clients are successful. She understands, having been a legal secretary herself, that it is extremely beneficial to give employees the tools and support each needs to be successful. From receptionist to partner, she is responsive to everyone with a clear understanding that every member of the firm is responsible for the firm's success, and ultimately the client's success. Every deal that the business/real estate practice closes and every case that the trial practice tries requires the concerted efforts of each member of our firm.

Full of energy and when not in the office, Susan's personal passions range from running to yoga to hiking and her newest passion – snow skiing.

Susan can find a solution to most any administrative challenge and takes great pride in "making it happen." Armed with the best Rolodex in Washington, DC, she can find the right person to provide the right solution, often within minutes.  Expeditiously researching to determine the best solution is her specialty.  It's important to Susan that an issue today not be an issue tomorrow.  She also works extremely hard to ensure that the physical office environment is kept organized, comfortable and safe because she understands that the environment contributes to each member's productivity.
