"Disaster Recovery Plan," Modern Contractor Solutions

Dan Kapner authored an article for the May issue of Modern Contractor Solutions discussing disaster recovery plans for construction projects that contemplate legal and insurance issues related to extreme or catastrophic weather events.

The article outlines insurance issues such as coverage for flood or wind damage, and contractual concerns including delays, increased costs, claim submission requirements and termination.

“Project owners and contractors must carefully review their construction contracts in preparation for an extreme weather event and understand their rights and responsibilities, so they are best equipped to get the project back on track if a natural disaster were to occur,” Kapner concluded.
